Salò
The town of Salò has to be the jewel in the crown of Lake Garda. Set in it’s own bay this medieval town became a haven of elegance when it flourished under the Venetians.
The new marina and a beautiful lakeside promenade which runs along the whole length of the town (and is the longest promenade on the lake) make it the perfect place for an elegant Italian holiday. Salo is often overlooked by many tourists and yet it offers everything the discerning traveller is looking for.
There are many bars from which to watch the world go by, boutique shops and good restaurants.
This resort will particularly suit anyone who wants a flat resort as most of the hotels are close to the centre and don’t involve tiring hills.
The town hall, set on the lakeside in the pedestrian area of the town, is actually the ‘Palazzo della Magnifica Patria’ which dates back the the 14th century when Salo was the capitol of ‘Magnifica Patria’.
It is a beautiful old building with elegant loggia underneath and many original frescos inside.
Salo is also the perfect place from which to depart, by boat, for the Isola del Garda where you can have your reception on your own private island.
Weddings in Salo take place in 3 different venues:
1. The Sala Consiliera
this impressive room on the first floor of the town hall has a very high ceiling with stunning frescos.
Seating can be arranged for a maximum of 60 people all seated with space for another 40 standing.
2. The Saletta
this pretty room is situated at the front of the town hall and offers great views over the gulf of Salo. It can seat a maximum of 12 people.
3. Mayors Office
This small room can be used for very intimate weddings with just the happy couple and their witnesses.
- The elegant town has stunning lake views across the gulf of Salo.
- The ceremony is performed in Italian with a translator.
- The lakeside venue is a great backdrop for stunning wedding pictures.
- Weddings can be arranged Monday to Saturday at any time within office hours.
A champagne toast can be arranged in one of the many lakeside venues.
